  • How can I apply to an ATHENS week?

You have to create a profile on https://register.athensnetwork.eu/sign-in. For more information on the detailed application procedure, you may refer to the ATHENS websites or internal documents of your HOME university or check directly with the local coordinator of your HOME university.

  • I have been selected to a course – Can I still change it?

It is not possible to change the course you have been assigned to. Please do not contact directly the local coordinators of other ATHENS partners or the professors of a course with such requests: your point of contact is your LOCAL coordinator, from your HOME institution.

  • Is it possible to cancel my participation in the ATHENS week?

There are very few exceptions for cancellations. Get in touch with the local coordinator of your HOME university if you really have to cancel (force majeure).

  • I did not receive the Vital Message by email. What do I need to do?

You can see the Vital Message by connecting to the registration website, once the course allocation is finished. If you encounter any difficulties, please contact the local coordinator of your HOME institution.

  • How can I find more information about accommodation at my destination?

You will receive this information shortly after your course assignment by the local coordinator of the HOST university. Some ATHENS partners propose to book housing for the participants. If this is not the case, you will receive a list of recommended hotels/hostels. Alternatively, you are free to look on your own.

  • Is there any scholarship available?

The ATHENS network does not provide scholarships. Please get in touch with the local coordinator of your HOME institution to get to know if your institution provides a scholarship.

  • What do I need to do in case of an emergency during the ATHENS week (abroad)?

Get in touch with the local coordinator of your HOST university. If necessary, the coordinator of the host university will get in touch with the coordinator of your home university.

  • How can I contact students from my university with the same destination?

The local coordinators are not allowed to share personal data with you. However, many ATHENS institutions organize pre-departure meetings or create groups or workspaces on platforms like WhatsApp or slack for the incoming students, in which you might find other students from your home university.

  • I have questions about arrival and departure dates. Whom should I contact?

Please check the Vital Message on the registration website by connecting with your profile. All information on when and where you are expected to register upon arrival are indicated in this message.

  • What are European Dimension Activities (EDA)?

All ATHENS Sessions abroad consists of two elements:

    1. a 5-days course at the host institution
    2. European Dimension Activities (EDA) of 2-3 days, depending on what is offered by the host institution.

These EDA take place during the weekend preceding the course period, during the 5 weekdays of the course as well as during the weekend following the course.

Students participating in an ATHENS week commit themselves to following the entire Programme (EDA + ATHENS course) as described above. The participation in the EDA is mandatory.

  • What is the difference between EDA and other social activities?

Some ATHENS partners organize additional social activities. Participation in these additional activities is not mandatory. However, we strongly encourage you to participate in them, as they allow you to connect with local students, and to discover the culture of your host university.

  • What is the certificate of attendance, and how do I get it?
